From Albuquerque to Arizona

 Road Trip Play List

The scenery didn't change much on this portion of the trip, so rather than bore you (and me) with more mesas and fewer trees, I thought you might want a playlist that describes our journey from Albuquerque to Holbrook, AZ. Where, by the way, the scenery DID change as we enjoyed the Painted Desert and Petrified National Forest.

  1. Pack our things, and we'll leave in the mornin' / Head for Arizona skies - Reckless Kelly
  2. Horse (i.e. Ford F-350) with no name - America
  3. On the road again / Goin' places that I've never been / Seein' things that I may never see again / I can't wait to get on the road again. - Willie Nelson
  4. Carefree highway, let me slip away on you / Carefree highway, you seen better days - Gordon Lightfoot (must have been describing I-40)
  5. We're on our way to the Grand Canyon state - Mr. Mirainga
  6. I love you, Arizona / Your mountains, deserts, and streams - Rex Allen, Jr.
  7. I wanna feel your love like the Arizona rain / Pouring down like a hurricane- 3 of Hearts (yes it rained as we set up the camper in Holbrook, AZ.)
  8. Get your kicks on route sixty-six. - Nat King Cole
  9. Desert Road - Casting Crowns
  10. You can go your own way - Fleetwood Mac (for when Google Maps was messing with me)
  11. Born to be Wild - Steppenwolf
  12. Well, I believe two tumbleweeds is better than one - Keith Urban
  13. And I go walking in the Arizona sun / Slow walking peace of mind - Rory Gallagher
  14. If the wind goes where You send it, so will I / If the rocks cry out in silence, so will I - Hillsong United

Our goal for this portion of the trip was to visit Painted Desert and Petrified National Forest National Parks. The beauty of these areas did not disappoint. We also hoped to visit with my cousin, Linda, who lives in AZ. That, unfortunately did not happen. Next time, Cuz!

Woo Hoo! Another state behind us, another one before us!

The quartz in some of the petrified wood

 Final Playlist Song

This hymn sums up my feelings after seeing this resplendent part of our country.

For the beauty of the earth,
for the glory of the skies,
for the love which from our birth
over and around us lies.

Christ, our Lord, to you we raise
this, our hymn of grateful praise.

-Folliott S. Pierpont
