Coen!

 Snuggle time!

I thought this day would never come. After four weeks on the road, four incredible National Parks, several amazing State Parks, one Army Corps of Engineers campground, and even a few private KOA-type "resorts," plus LOTS of miles and a new tire, we finally made it to our campsite near LA. We are camped right on the beach, with The Strand behind our camper. The Strand is the wide sidewalk for biking, running, inline skating, etc. that follows the ocean for several miles. You've probably seen it on shows like NCIS Los Angeles. A quick trudge through the sand and we're ready for a nice walk with Trooper!

Oh, yeah, snuggle time. Sorry for that rabbit trail.

Since Courtney and Kyle have two cats, Trooper could not hang out at their house. Oh, they have a new baby, too. Did I mention that? So T is being entertained at Grateful Dogs Doggy Daycare. We dropped him off before driving over to see Coen. He did very well his first day. He enjoyed the other dogs, but instead of playing hard with them, he just wanted the staff to love on him. This is typical Trooper, so we were not surprised. He did get a bout of Zoomies early on. Also typical Trooper.

Oh, yeah, snuggle time. Sorry for that rabbit trail.

So, finally we drive over to the home of Kyle, Courtney, and Coen. This is the first time David has been to their new home, so he got the grand tour. Courtney was feeding the baby so I visited with her on the couch. Coen was unavailable for snuggling.

Then the little man was finished and... I got to burp the baby! And snuggle! And promptly got spit up all over my shirt.

Nana enjoying her newest grandbaby.

Since that first snuggle I've been blessed to feed the baby, change a poopie diaper, feed the baby, wrap him in his swaddle, cuddle with him when he was fussy, feed the baby...

Courtney is a super mama. She is so loving and patient. If the baby is fussy, she checks all the usual things: hunger, gas, diaper, and did I say hunger?

Courtney: "Please warm up a bottle for me."
Kyle: "He just ate!"
Courtney: "Please warm up a bottle for me."

This little guy has quite an appetite!

Kyle is an amazing dad and husband. He's currently reading The Daily Dad: 366 Meditations on Parenting, Love, and Raising Great Kids. I love the topics the author, Ryan Holiday, included, some of which are Teach By Example, Put Your Family First, Love Unconditionally, Raise A Reader, and Time Flies. Lots of solid gold nuggets in there.

Here's another solid gold nugget from Proverbs 17:6

Grandchildren are the crown of the aged,
and the glory of children is their fathers.

Hold on, folks, I can't snuggle with my cute new grand-baby if I'm keyboarding. Sorry, this blogging is a rabbit trail. My crown is calling; I've got some snuggle time to pursue. Oh, YEAH!!
